Red light and near-infrared light
The skin is the body’s largest organ. It protects it from environmental influences, helps control your hydration and provides many key physiological functions for your body.
Aging eventually takes its toll on our skin. One treatment that has become very popular recently to counteract this, is near-infrared and red light therapy. It has been studied extensively and has been proven to help a wide variety of skin conditions.
Studies have shown the use of red light and near-infrared light therapy provides real and lasting benefits. Why not check it out here at Tap Into Health?
Harmful light versus positive light
You’re probably thinking, but isn’t light harmful to the skin? While some light sources can damage the skin, other lights can be incredibly beneficial.
For example, UVA is associated with skin aging, which is why sun exposure leads to premature aging. UVB light has a shorter wavelength, and so causes our skin to burn when we go out in the sun without skin protection.
Exposure to either UVA or UVB lighting can cause irreversible damage to our skin, and for some this leads to skin cancer.
Red light and near-infrared light has incredible healing properties and is used to treat many chronic pain conditions. It works on a cellular level to encourage new cell turnover and deep repair of muscle and tissue. Red light and near-infrared can be used on its own or in conjunction with other treatments.
